The collaboration has been born from the need of tightening the bonds between Finland and Japan on a technological and know-how level for both markets. JETRO currently has over 70 offices overseas whose duties are actively focused in contributing to the further development of Japan’s economy and society through promoting trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world.

This partnership is led by JETRO’s office in London. At Maria 01, the partnership and its main activities will be further developed by CEO Voitto Kangas and CMO Kim Oguilve. This collaboration will pose a great opportunity for Japanese and Finnish startup communities and ecosystems to share knowledge, collaborate and sophisticate their business environments.

On a larger scale it will help Finland build global links to a larger market and find trusted partners in Japan. For Finnish startups wanting to go to Japan, it will be of great aid to use JETRO’s expertise and market knowledge. Through different coaching sessions and state of the Finnish startup ecosystem reports, Maria 01 will facilitate to JETRO the latest news and developments inside the Finnish startup ecosystem.

Through this partnership, both parties are keen to see more Finnish startups exploring Japan and vice-versa. Furthermore, the partnership wants to build all the possible bridges and become a platform to provide networking opportunities, host open conversations and promote collaborations between Finnish and Japanese businesses.
